I would prefer not to stay close to areas where activities like that is around. Would appreciate if anyone has information about this. Thanks in advance! Generally the even numbered Lorong are red light areas.
The most major area is Lor 8 to Lor 22, but afaik they also operate on the other side of Lor No harm taking a walk around the area in the day and you should get the feeling already. Most of the brothels operate out of the terraced houses. Not sure if any of them try operating in the apartments. Since you say you prefer not to be around these activities, then probably don't choose that area, cos there will always be some spillover even if you are outside the major activity center. If you really want that area, go as far from Lor 22 as possible, better still go for the odd numbered Lorong, even better go as close to Aljunied MRT as possible.
Further from the red light areas and you minimize the time taken to walk to your place. How much is your budget and are you willing in HDB? Is geylang your only choice because of it good location? Last edited by uic; at PM.. Even during the day, there are quite a lot of "uncles" hanging around that area.
There are properties along North East Line which are not too expensive and you can reach town pretty fast. I think an additional 10 minutes travelling time is worth for safety. I don't mind HDB but it has to be well-kept. Some HDB units I've seen have paint peeling off the wall and other signs of non-maintenance.
