Some forums can only be seen by registered members. I just moved to Rochester a couple of weeks ago. I live off Monroe near the Inner Loop. The first time I rode to bus, a couple days after I arrived here, I was waiting at the bus stop and a guy kept driving by, honking, and then pulling off a few feet up from me and waving. Then this morning around 6 am I was on the way to the bus and this guy followed me.
I thought maybe these guys thought I was a prostitute. I don't see why, though, since I dress very modestly and don't wear make up. I thought maybe it was the street. Is this where hookers hang out? Not that I'm aware of - that's kind of odd. Was he younger, older, did he seem "dirty"? Maybe he was just being friendly toungue firmly planted in cheek.
Though Monroe isn't usually considered a "hooker street" I wouldn't be surprised by a drunk or coked up perv still out 6 a. That's the weird thing, he seemed fairly normal. He was well-dressed and well-groomed and relatively decent looking, but he did seem a little "slow.
Thats kinda weird. Maybe he thought you were someone else. I usually hang out around Park ave though. For the most part, no. You probably just came across some creepy people. Lyell Ave is hooker street. So avoid soliciting or just being on their corner. Monroe Ave is not a place I would walk or wait for a bus, but I think you just got unlucky. Try making yourself look unappealing to unwanted onlookers, especially in the city. Watch out Aorre, people are gonna jump on your nuts now and tell you Monroe Ave is one of the safest streets in Rochester!
The people who don't think it's safe are the know nothing suburbanites who never go to the city anyways. Unfortunately, if you're a young woman in a city like Rochester men will sometimes try to chat you up on the street, often from their car.
